Budget airline Ryanair says it may be forced to cut the number of planes it flies to and from Bristol Airport due to the “insanely stupid” rise in British air passenger tax.
Meanwhile the Stop Bristol Airport Expansion (SBAE) is asking the public to donate to a fighting fund to pay legal costs to continue challenge £150 million expansion plans at Bristol Airport.
In contrast the new coalition Government is taking a hard line against the expansion of the three large London airports but there is a real danger that this will put even more pressure on provincial airports such as Bristol.
The Bristol airport trolley hire charges have been doubled from £1 to £2 and the fee is not refundable, quite an expensive way to push your baggage around while travelling on budget airlines to save travel costs.
Gordano School students won a competition staving off a challenge from eight other schools in project organized by Young Enterprise in conjunction with Bristol Airport. They produced a concept and designed a cover for the Winter Destinations Guide 2010/11 and then delivered a pitch to explain and sell their idea. Their winning design will now appear on more than 30,000 copies of the guide which will appear on stands at the airport and be available to passengers on the planes.
A new walkway was opened at the end of May following 12 months’ work and £8 million of investment which will be of great convenience to passengers at the Bristol airport.
